Meet the artist & maker

MAKIKO is an international award-winning photographer and author. Born in Japan, she has lived, studied and worked in Japan, France, UK, North America and Switzerland. She studied photography at the International Center of Photography and Alex Majoli (Magnum Photos) is her mentor. Since 2006 she has been exhibited in Japan, North America and Europe. She published "BATTLESHIP ISLAND" from Dewi Lewis Publishing in 2018. She is best known for black and white photography.

This is the first year that Makiko has exhibited at York Open Studios
