David's recent work considers the potential for abstract painting to respond in a dialogue with other forms of media including magazines, newspapers, vinyl records, online playlists and web-based video.

David has lived in the centre of York for four years. He has a creative association with the city going back almost 20 years and has a practice that encompasses painting, writing, performance, and sound. Alongside his personal practice, David is also a teacher. He leads a team of practicing artists within the innovative and highly successful Art department at Bootham School. In 2018, David became a founding member of the YO! Collective group of contemporary artists.davidswales.net
