Henry Steele uses mixed media focusing primarily on ceramics. He is particularly interested in ancient manufacturing techniques which favour sustainable methods and often employs discarded items as tools for decoration.
Exhibiting in 2020
A diagnosis of autism gives Henry Steele an unusual vision of the world around him. From an early age Henry refused to conform to numerical concepts, rather he relies on his eye to give a sense of aesthetic. Through his work, Henry questions the traditional boundaries of historic styles and fashions, with the intention of prompting the viewer to say to themselves such things as 'what if', 'why not' or even 'that’s impossible because'.
This is the first year that Henry Steele has exhibited at York Open Studios
