Due to Covid 19 cancelling York Open Studios this year, the artists managed to create an online presence and community by taking part in Virtual York Open Studios. A lot of our artists and makers were able to dress their windows with artwork and wares to brighten up those key workers who had to be out and about and those doing their daily exercise, bringing culture to the community and quite frankly something new to look in these uncertain times! Online our artists and makers were sharing the love and posting about their experiences, materials, processes and influences with social audiences, keeping YOS very much alive over the 2 weeks surrounding the weekends we would have been exhibiting and welcoming visitors over the threshold. It was an amazing effort by all involved and if you’ve missed any of it you can have a look at (and like, share, comment on…!) our Facebook page or search #yorkopenstudios to look back at posts of the the artists that took part.
