Photography of the working railway and associated industry—the heavier the better. Of the Documentary school, people, places, the forever changing. Duncan regularly travels East to see coal and metal industries.

Meet the artist & maker

Duncan has been photographing since paper round funds allowed—and travelling. His subject matter is the railway, in its working environment—collieries, industry, the steam locomotive working on railways abroad. Then hiatus, 12 years before rebirth. A single photograph or video can provide the next lead—the inspiration. In recent years just one video led Duncan east, seeking Soviet machinery in the modern world, from the coalfields of Poland to the windswept Steppe of Kazakhstan.

There are steps from the pavement into the venue.

Single step in from the side path, sharp left turn into the door. Doorway not wide enough for wheelchair access.
