Phil Bixby
Phil makes black and white photographs, shot on film using late-1900s cameras and lenses, then developed and scanned to produce high-quality inkjet prints for mounting and display.
Meet the artist & maker

Alongside photography Phil is an architect who loves working with light, form and texture— shared media in both roles but with the camera giving greater freedom for abstraction. The mechanical nature of the equipment, characteristics of different films and the very physical development of the negatives creates a unique relationship with the final images. The natural landscape, and the way we intrude into it, fuels his work at varied scales.
