David Campbell

Through decades of practice, I have worked on large-scale and small paintings. A highly personal approach to imagery from the natural world (botanical, geological and landscape) and mythology.

Meet the artist & maker

David was born in Herefordshire and educated in Hertfordshire, Lebanon and Edinburgh. He studied fine art in Edinburgh (1970-77) and at the Royal College of Art, London (1978-81). He worked in decorative faux finishes and as an art director in the music industry (Simply Red, Paul Weller, Dead or Alive, Pasadenas, Terry Hall), (1982-90). Designed furniture, jewellery, fashion accessories (from 1990). A regular participant in York Open Studios and works on private sales and commissions.
