Oil or acrylic paintings on board or canvas, and watercolours, mostly of York or Istanbul, both remembered and modern, in sunlight, moonlight and smoke. Also, wooden water-illusion machines.

Meet the artist & maker

After Nunthorpe Grammar School, York, and a Degree in Egyptology at Oxford University, Mark worked freelance, doing murals in pubs and hotels, as well as scenery, special-effects painting, and prop-making for theatre, film, TV and museums around Britain, Europe, and construction sites in Arabia. He walked from GdaĆsk to Istanbul in 1990 and helped on Turkish archaeological surveys. Mark has held solo exhibitions of paintings in York, Oxford and the Turkish embassy, London.
