Peter Monkman

Peter is an award-winning figurative artist whose oil paintings and mixed media works show a deep, exploration of identity, perception, and appearance. ‘The Changeling’ is an ongoing theme.

Meet the artist & maker

Peter studied art at Lancaster University, MA at UCL and PGCE at John Moore’s. He has practiced and taught art over 38 years in Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, Northamptonshire and was recently Director of Art at Charterhouse. Peter has been in numerous exhibitions, nationally and internationally, including The Saatchi Galleries, Mall Galleries and National Portrait Gallery where he won the BP Portrait Award in 2009. His portrait of Julia Donaldson is part of the NPG permanent collection.
