Janie Stevens

Janie, known as the Greenthwaite Sculptor, carves natural materials, namely stone and wood. Recently she has been working in steel. The versatility of the materials allows her to create continuous, flowing forms that invite exploration.

Meet the artist & maker

Janie hand-carves stone and wood. Her sculptures are predominantly figurative and invite her audience to engage with her work on a deeper, more interpretive level. A hallmark of her creations is their extreme tactility, each curve, line and texture inviting touch, creating a multi-sensory experience that connects the viewer directly with the material and the artist’s hand. Recently Janie has expanded her artistic repertoire to include steel, showcasing her versatility and innovative spirit.
