Emma’s paintings explore the emotional connection to land and sea; how the outer world can reflect the inner. Inspiration comes from dusk and dawn over the coast and moors, poignant moments of human solitude against the vastness of nature. Using acrylic with mixed media, she builds up layers, marks and glazes, the paintings evolving intuitively into semi-abstract works. She aims to transport the viewer to wild places under big skies, resonant with memories or possibilities.
